Live Worthy
Early in the first chapter of Thessalonians, the Apostle Paul wrote about Christ’s return, then transitioned into what lends itself as a fifth potent “model prayer for your husband.” If you look back at each prayer, we find Paul telling his readers that he “constantly remembers” them in his prayers, “he continues to pray” for them, he has “kept them always in his prayers,” and now, out from his heart flows, “I constantly pray. . . . ”
This is our commission, as we step into this verse to pray on behalf of our husbands.
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 TPT
With this in mind (Christ’s return), I constantly pray that You, God, will empower [insert your husband’s name] to live worthy of all that You have invited him to experience. And I pray that by Your power all the pleasures of goodness and all works inspired by faith would fill him completely.
By doing this the name of the Lord Jesus will be glorified in my husband, and [insert your husband’s name] will be glorified in Him, by the marvelous grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Have you noticed? The prayers we’ve been praying for our husbands can be prayed for anyone! However, at this moment, we focus on praying for our husbands to “live worthy” of everything God invites them to experience. What an exciting thought! With Christ’s return nearer today than it was when Paul penned these verses, we sense an urgency to pray for our husbands, bringing glory to the name of Jesus.
